Professional Experience

Catia Pinca-Smith started her professional interpreting and translation career back in 1985 whilst studying at the University of Innsbruck where she obtained her Master’s degree in simultaneous interpretation and translation. In 1987 Catia moved to the U.K. and carried on working as a freelance interpreter and translator and taught Italian and German in private companies, at the University of Bournemouth and the University of Westminster (consecutive and simultaneous interpreting).

For many years Catia provided translation and voice-over services for corporate training videos.

Telephone interpreting

Catia has used her interpreting skills to aid communication between several parties over the phone in situations where people need to discuss business, conduct market research or interviews but do not have the opportunity, whether for practical or financial reasons, to meet face to face.

Membership of Professional Associations

Catia has been a Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), as a translator and as a conference interpreter, since 1995 and Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) since 1989.
